We worked on ties this afternoon, and between donations and what we are contributing as individuals, a few dollars buys a few inches. Our first 300 feet will end up costing about $30 a foot, even with a donation of the rail. We are using new spikes, track bolts, used tie plates, new rail joiners. My business partner bought a new chain saw out of his pocket for tie cutting, we are individually buying things out of our own pocket for tools like spike mauls, tie tongs, and the like. But we are finally making some progress and plan on our first section of track to be in place by labor Day.
