Cumbres Practices

March 14, 2003 02:06AM
When I first saw this photo I was wondering if this freight might have double headed up from Antonito--but due to weight restrictions on Cascade trestle it wouldn't seem feasible and a break from the normal operating procedures. The other day I saw a video where the mid-train helper
was taken out of the train and ran around it and coupled on to the front and helped it over the hump and right before it got to the little trestle just past the water spout it was uncoulped and then proceeded light to Chama. So this may explain why there is a picture of a double header at Cumbres. Just thought this might be of some interest to someone.
