It's always nice to review the history of the RGS, as details fade in memory even for RGS fans such as myself.

The note of there being some 18,000+ miles of narrow gague track in the US in the decade before the RGS started up is interesting. The RGS only had 162+ miles of track, less than 1% of the nation's total. And the Silverton RR only accounted for about 0.1%. Yet both railroads, long lost, seem to my (biased) mind to account for a much greater share of the interest in the 3-foot gauge.
