Left grab iron was on the car when it went out of service around the 1910 era, so we left it as it was. There is one new one that replaces one that was completely missing and the new one matches the profile of the more normal looking one in the picture. This picture I took in 1957 shows a very sad grab iron: [www.flickr.com]

The car is now open daily as a self-serve information booth for the museum and our other heritage attractions including the Silverton Northern. I unlock it in the morning and close it up around 6 every evening, and so far no problems.
