FYI,
I posted the ad on behalf of the Southern Forest Heritage Museum. The rail in question is 45# rail rolled about 1914 and used on the Crowell & Spencer Lumber Co. railroad. When that RR was picked up in 1970, the last 1 or 2 miles of rail were stacked in the woods. The family has asked the museum to aid in the disposal of the rail, as they need the pile moved for logging operations.
For the record, with 33' joints, 600 joints is just short of two miles.
We won't know exactly how much is there until we can get way back in the woods, and this is not the time to do that.
As far as the SN goes, they have a source of 65-70# rail already, and they just need $$$ to move it, so the 45# not of much interest to them. A couple of other operators have asked about the rail, but at this moment, everyone seems to want 60# or better (and so do we for that matter).
