Re: Baggage Car in Antonito?

The five stock cars were donated to the railroad. I accepted the donation to keep the cars from being scrapped. They are currently sitting on trucks on the display track behind the #495.
The baggage car is D&RG #163. It was built in 1883. After being retired from the railroad it was sold to a farmer/rancher in the San Luis valley near Hooper. We have acquired it and moved it to Antonito. We are in the process of getting it on the National Register of Historic Places. The long term plan is to restore it and add it to the other 5 cars that make up the "historic car fleet".
