I'm sure there would be some insurance concerns, since the train is being run by non-licensed personnel (under the direct supervision of experenced crew), but with appropriate release forms - or perhaps even a one-day insurance purchase included in the price of a ticket - it would be another source of revenue for the railroad.
There's no way, at the tender age of 73.5, that I could fire a K-36 - much less #463 - even part of the way up the pass, and IIRC you have to pass the fireman training in order to qualify for engineer school. But it would be great fun to ride the caboose for a day or two, even with Rule G in effect
