The story goes that the movie company was p'od that RGS returned her to service, for the Fall stock rush, still wearing her "Tomahawk & Western" paint job. The RGS did a quick repaint, painting out the T&W and then stenciling in "Rio Grande Southern," but they couldn't find a complete stencil so the word "Rio" came from a different set and didn't quite match.
The story continues that the RGS crews kinda liked the clipper ship painting which is why it was kept and the "sunset" herald wasn't used. I've never heard if they thought it was pretty or if they just got a chudkle out of it (or both) but I have heard that it disgusted several long-time RGS fans/photographers, Richard Kindig for one. I wonder it that's why it got repainted for F&CC once the Rocky Club owned it?
I like the ship, btw.
