Yah, but I read the story as the new cars being for some specific service to/from California which I assumed to be on the regular (read standard gauge) railroads.

And that at that time the only other vertical-plane ( for the year they could have called them MCB ) on Union Tank Car line cars was for a narrow gauge in New Mexico.

I took The question to be which railroad in New Mexico could this have been.
