Thanks.
I think that might be something valuable to do.
I've been a member of the Friends of the C&TS for 10 years. I've tried to get out to a work session 4 times and have been snake bit on it. The last time has been this darned tumor.
I've written the Friends 4 time since 1992 to try to see what I could do and Terri Shaw has always responded and been nice, but the response has always been "we'll keep you in mind" and nothing more is heard.
The times I have taken my Mom (widowed and 69) on vacation, we've rented the 05635 and then opened it to others on the train to try to pass on the heritage of the caboose and the C&TS and railroading on. Mom loves sharing the caboose with others as do I. Twelve members of Mom's family worked for the Pennsy. My own docent program.
However I have e-mailed and snail mailed the Friends about their formal docent program and it has been three years without a response.
I'm not mad at the Friends, it has been an all volunteer operation until recently and it remains 99% so. Cetainly hands-on help is the most valuable type of help, but I'm tired of butting my head against the wall trying to force my help on them.
