I could not agree with you more. My post concrening the RGS was intended in jest as a pipe dream. My original concern when the Friends became involved in providing money to restore locomotives, and then later when they were tapped to be the operator was that it would dilute their energies and resources from their original mission. Any energies (read dollars) spent on projects other than shoring up, and improving the C&TS (right of way, structures, needed motive power, rolling stock, and business infrastructure) is money wasted and hurts the long term chances of survival for the C&TS.
