The first view of the Animas River shows the Silverton Northern headed out of town alongside the town cemetery. Where the tracks disappear around the hill is the Silver Lake power plant and the roof of the Waldheim mansion can be seen to the left of the power plant. Further up is the Silver Lake Mill but there are only mill foundations on the hill side indicating this photo was taken after a fire that destroyed the mill prior to this picture, and the mill was subsequently rebuilt.
