I'm not sure how long abandoned wooden things last in the Great Lakes region ("midwest" is not a useful concept here, because there are substantial climatic differences between a state like Indiana and a state like Kansas). Indiana is a very green state compared to a state like Colorado; we get serious amounts of rainfall leading to serious rot and serious growth of vegetation; both would cause serious deterioration of wood, and I doubt if anything would last unprotected outdoors for a hundred years.
