I chased the eastbound (pulled by a K-36) up the hill on Sunday, and it had a hell of a time between the rain/snow and the rust on the rails.
I'm told it can take a week or so of operation to knock the rust off the rail heads after the winter and Monday was another wet/snowy day so it sounds like they decided to double head that day.
