Photos in "Sumpter Valley Railway" show locomotives captioned as being on a deadline in Bates, SVR 2-8-0 #10 and OLC #103 4-4-0 with another unknown locomotive directly in front of it. None of the three locos was parked with a tender. Per photos, SVR #11 was parked on disconnected track in Whitney with a flat car behind it, not a tender (although maybe they just pulled the tank?). SVR had an idler flat car that was supposedly made from a former tender. I know of 2 tenders used as riprap in the middle fork John Day, and one of the little logging locomotives had its water tank used as a water trough. How were some of the other SVR tenders repurposed?
