The common thing was to always have a pair of SG/NG idlers in Antonito so that any eastbound train coming off Cumbres, could handle SG cars to ALA. If an eastbound grabbed the idlers and moved some SG cars north, the next train out of ALA would have a pair of idlers in the train - even if there were no SG cars to move south. Usually there was enough SG traffic toward Antonito to have a few SG cars in every train.
