The last photo in Bret's post shows the back of the throttle, on the bench for lapping. Here are some more shots for those who wonder what a dome throttle for a saturated steam locomotive looks like.

This is the interior of the throttle body, looking at the sealing faces top and bottom.
It was in fairly good condition and only took a couple of hours to lap. Still, quite a bit of boring work turning to the right and then to the left.
