Remember in 1933 the RGS trackage was in better shape than it was later on. The D&RGW had maintained it to a better level, for example treated ties instead of untreated, than the recivers did. From 1930 on the RGS got a little worse each year with the effects becoming really noticable by the late 1930's when the fans started to arrive.
