Rule of thumb

Rich,
without reference material in front of me, I think Mike Trent is right on with this.
A good "general rule of thumb" was the coaches and parlor cars had rounded roofs and "head-end" cars had the squared off roofs. For this rule I classify the combines as a "Head-end" car.
But of course with everything D&RGW Narrow Gauge there will be exceptions, those are the fun ones to model
