Short caboose was not bought from Swayne. She was built by the West Side in 1940.
As for the boards on the right side of caboose #4/6 they are replacements. Look at the early shot of #4 posted by Ede and you will see that the boards on the right side of #4 are all the same width. Compare that with the shot of the caboose as #6 that I posted and you will see the replaement narrow boards.
