During 1981 and 1982 when his picture was taken they used to doublehead one train most of the time. 1981 was Bradshaws first year, and I was out there on the honeymoon. A doubleheader ran every day, splitting the engines at the big bridge over the Animas River each time
until such time as the bridge strengthening was completed. We walked 3 miles each way to see and film this one day. This was usually the first train of the day, and the other K-28 would pull the second train. Not sure how many years that lasted, but soon after the bridge was strengthened the 480 and 481 started running to Silverton(before 1985).

Could happen, as 473 and 478 are still operational. Forget the 476 though!
