I don't know what the tractive effort is for the diesels, but they can't do MU hookups at this time, as I understand it. And last I heard, there were no plans for such a conversion. That was not what they were acquired for. They are for work service and light duty use to save further wear and tear on the steam engines.
I doubt two of the units they have would manage a 12 car train to Silverton. But, what do I know of such things?
