FYI: The Spring/Summer edition of Sn3 MODELER begins a three part series of plans, photos and history of the Uintah's midget mallets. Each part concentrates on their service on 1)Uintah Ry., 2)Sumpter Valley Ry. and 3)IRCA.

In case anyone asks, I'm still in On3 (and Proto 48). After Bob Richardson passed away, Don Heimburger asked me to take-over his monthly column and I've been writing "Narrow Gauge Notebook" ever since. (Not that anybody could ever match the first hand writing of RWR.) Fortunately, history and great old photos are not scale specific.

The photo (bottom of NGRDF) was one that Otto Perry gave me one sunny afternoon in the 1960s, while sitting on his front porch, going through shoe boxes of Post Card prints. Every now and then I would see an especially fine photograph and let out a joyful "Ohoo", to which Otto responded by giving me the print in hand. There was a lot of "Ohooing" and "Ahhing"on my part!
