I know there is someone out there who can answer a question about the reverse mechanism on the Uintah 50/51 locos. I am building a live steam model of this loco and have a set of detailed plans which show the lifting arm pivot in two different positions on the front and rear engines. The pivot for the rear cylinder set is ahead of the expansion link; the pivot for the front cylinder set is behind the expansion link. If I am interpreting things correctly this setup makes the reversing the opposite on the individual cylinders: when you put the rear engine in forward the front engine gets put in reverse. What am I missing? Is there something on the connecting bar between the two which reverses the motion?
