This is a three part series about the major surviving hill railways in india and the people around them. Yes, they are tailored to a mainstream audience, not a railfan audience but are quite enjoyable. It is a taste of life along the line.
The DHR just re-opened (in December) the entire length of the line after repairing two major washouts / landslips, one at the Tindharia shops (which also put the shops themselves in danger) and at Palga Jora. The DHR is fighting a continous battle with nature, indifferent bereaucracy, changing local government / political situation, and locals who do not see the railway the same as we do. The time to go see it is now. It is very difficult to tell what the future will hold for this historic Narrow Gauge mountain railway, the first of its kind.
