This Shay is similar to Mich-Cal #2 (Lima s/n 122- 1884) that was built for Rumsey Lbr. Co. of Big Rapids, MI and went to Hart & Horning at Wodville, MI before going to Pino Grande, California in 1901. However, the unidentified new find appears to be standard or broad gauge. The headlight has a forign-European look. The position of the front hose on the right side (engineers's) indicates straight air brakes.Standard US pratice on D&RG ng would have the automatic air hose to the left of the coupler pocket, with the straight air hose on right (ie: looking down on the coupler). In any event they are nice views of an early Shay and I hope someone will be able to identify her owner.
