I also enjoy elk meat. It is much better than deer, and much healthier than beef. And when hunting with a camera you don't get the meat.
Also there are too many elk in most of Colorado and Utah, and probably northern New Mexico as well, according to my father, a wildlife biologist for the US Forest Service. They are eating all the browse that other animals rely on, and damaging the eco-system.
