Since my earlier post, I have reviewed the snow plow that was installed under the pilot frame, see page 480 of Vol. VII, or Pg 169 LADRG, and now believe the cables were to lift the plow blade (also used as a flanger) and hold it up. The cylinder cock were controled by a factory built rod under the boiler, and did not need a add-on cable and lever on the pilot. In the June 1942 photos, the plow was removed but the add-on levers were left in place for the next winter. How wrong is that guess? All suggestons welcome.
