Greg and Mike have said pretty much everything that needs to be said. Any contributions are voluntary, but, for the most part, I enjoy this place enough that they're not terribly necessary.
As for any immediate increase in the monthly cost, at this point it does not look like there will be any. The problem seems to be technical in nature and we can address it by tweaking out a few things rather than having to throw any additional money at it.

The NGDF was started by Don Richter and is currently operated in his memory by Nathan Holmes and others.
