I'd love to see a rotary charter or fan trip on the C&T.
I know John Bush has indicated he is open to the idea.
Economically with the cost of running the rotary, and 2 or more locomotives to push it, it does not make since to clear the line that way.
Plus there is the risk involved to the equipment.
Economically speaking the only reason to run a rotary trip is if you have enough rail fans willing to pay a high enough price to make a fan trip profitable for the railroad. You have the cost of operating at least 2 locomotives, and the rotary, that is a minimum of 3 steam crews, plus the conductor for the "passengers". If you have a chase train then you have another locomotive and another crew. It adds up quite quickly. It would be cheaper to put a couple of coaches on the plow train I suppose but then that ruins the look of the plow train.
I would love it but could never afford the per person ticket price that would be required.
