"Wd" Class steam locomotive, NZR 323, 2-6-4T type in the erecting shop awaiting the tanks. Photograph taken by Albert Percy Godber at the Petone Railway Workshops, ca 1901 or 1902. See also APG-0727-1/2 for a different angle of this scene.
"Wd" class steam locomotive no. 321 (2-6-4T type), 1901
Reference Number: APG-2034-1/2-G
"Wd" 321, steam locomotive (2-6-4T type). Inscription on the negative reads "Class 'Wa'", this is incorrect, being class "Wd". See "Register of New Zealand Railways Locomotives, 1863-1971" by W G Lloyd. Photographed by Albert Percy Godber in 1901. Three railway employees stand beside the engine, the man on the right holding an oil can, while the driver is leaning out of the cab.(sic), (Librarians also get things wrong: Fireman in cab, Driver on ground with oilcan)
my Favourite shot.
