Former Jokioisten Railway, Finland, 2-6-2T no.5, worked its first passenger train in preservation today on the 2'6'' gauge Welshpool and Llanfair Railway in the Welsh Borders. The Locomotive was built in the early 1950s and operated in Finland burning wood. On the closure of it home line the locomotive was passed into preservation. Comming to England to a private site in 1980 and going to Llanfair in 1983. She has been under restoration for the last ten years by the engineering vollunteers, including myself, and has been makeing brake in runs on the 9 mile steeply graded line since Easter. However as a "new" locomotive she had to pass a test by the railway inspectors. The test itself occured two weeks ago and the results were know today. This resulted in the locomotive being fired up to run the last trip of the day on this 99% vollunteer run railway.
