The Ridgway Railroad museum and Ouray County Historical Society lead several guided hikes along the Silverton RR route each summer and autumn. Most go from 550 to the Corkscrew turntable, but the third weekend in September we lead a two-day hike (half each day, evening in town, no camping required!) from the top of Red Mountain Pass all the way to the end of track at Albany. We cover every inch of every siding along the way, with a copy of the book in hand. It's well worth it.
On a side note, reconstruction of the Guston depot is complete. Winter has hit us, so laying a panel of 30-pound track in front of it will wait until late spring. Materials are on site.
Watch for an important announcement from the museum soon, unrelated to Red Mountain.
