Re: NNG Another Roundhouse bites the dust

I'll definitely agree with anyone who thinks the recent Tea Party politics in NC have been a bad thing overall, but I don't think that's what's going on here. It may be a part of it, but that roundhouse has been in poor shape for many years, and only a small portion of the building was actually in use anyway. Remember that NS is a business, and their only purpose is to make money. If the roundhouse in Asheville wasn't making money for them, if it wasn't a good use of their property, then they had no reason to keep it. I believe that simple economics, more than any tax laws, were what drove the decision to raze the roundhouse. A very similar decision was made regarding the Greensboro roundhouse a few years ago. Today, you can barely see where it stood.

Fortunately, we still have Spencer.
