The tank on the Cedar Point & Lake Erie is wood, and was functional up until the late 1980's. It was drained at the end of every season, and the infamous Lake Erie winters took it's tole on it.It got to the point that they had start filling it a week earlier every year in order it wet enough to swell up and seal. Eventually it wouldn't seal at all. Management then intalled a water treatment plant in the engine house, and ran a pipe over to the water spout, bypassing the tank altogether. Now they don't even use the spout, as it has run afoul of current OSHA regulations. Quick disconnect hose fittings have been fitted to the rear of the tender tanks and they are filled from a hydrant under the tank.
