I stayed at the Hotel Grishuna at Filisur for four nights and chased trains between Thusis and Berguen. The first picture is a southbound freight leaving the station at Solis, just east of Thusis.
And here a freight heads the other direction across the viaduct at Solis. It is probably something like 500 feet down to river level, but the narrow gorge is hard to photograph without an extreme wide angle lens which I did not have.
A lot of the passenger trains have the newer B-B units painted in various advertising schemes. So I was pleased that this train approaching Tiefencastel had one of the "traditional" B-B-B units in red. The blue car is a traditional diner that now is available for various "gourmet" special functions.
In contrast to the high horsepower mainline electrics. here is the station switcher at Surava which serviced a very active log loading operation.
The next image is a northbound freight approaching Surava.
