Bruce thanks so much for dating this event. I will spend a little time as soon as available to figure out which engines might have been involved. The engine with the wood cab burned off may be the easiest by process of elimination.
Mike, when I was trying to research the above fire in "Oregon Historical Newspapers" I found a reference to patrols in S.Baker watchful of a "fire bug" at the Baker White Pine mill. This was during a time of unrest and local organizing attempts by the IWW. Some of these fires were surely accidental, but a few were of suspicious causes apparently.
