Flagstaff Lumber incline donkey taking itself to the top of Anderson's Mesa where it was set up to handle loads of logs. The primary cable that the winch engine used to pull itself up with is alongside the right rail.
Caption for a second photo of it:
In front of the man standing on the track is a timber wedge between the ties and the winch engine. This acted as an emergency brake while the engine stationed itself half way down the incline to either pull up or let down trains, using a secondary cable.
