There were two spurs that ran south of Mono Mills. One ran nearly due south for about 4 miles. This was probably the last branch as it is the one that still has ties. The other spur headed south-east and a modern access road is located on it today. Due to the road being built on top of the grade I don't know how far south this other line extended. I'd guess at least 3-4 miles. George Sapp and I have discussed making the Bodie & Benton / Mono Mills RR our next destination when we're done with the C&C in a couple of years. I first discovered the lines south about 30 years ago when by chance I took one of the roads to go camping. I was pleasantly surprised to see the ties in place when I went for a little hike that evening and ended up going about a mile south to the apparent end of the line...
