Jim,
Currently only our little switcher #10 is operational. NCNG 5 is going to need a lot of work to restore to operation, namely a new boiler and tender. Right now we are in the process of restoring the engine cosmeticly and while doing so make sure that we fix and clean up every part that would need to be done when the engine does get restored to operation one day. I will have a museum update this weekend showing our current progress the past few weeks. In the next few weeks we hope to get the brake system on the tender started (Universal torched it all off years ago) as well as work on the air brake system for the whole locomotive. Our goal is to have fully functional airbrakes which we would have to manually charge for now but it will save us work in the long run. After being under the engine a number of times the frame thankfully appears to be in good shape. Another upcoming project will be to get the boiler jacket back on and to get the cab fixtures reinstalled as well as remove the Hollyweird additions.
The only operating steam engine close by is Argent #5 which the hotel owns but it is a basket case and the hotel runs it way under pressure so it really isn't useful for anything.
