The majority of hunters may be responsible individuals, but that still leaves a sizeable minority of idiots and miscreants. Back when we used to own 20 acres of woods, my dad or I would have to run hunters off the property every weekend during hunting season, despite the fact that it was posted at 30 foot intervals around the property line. They always claimed that they had been given permission to hunt by some guy up the road a piece.

The worst were the coon hunters with their packs of dogs that would come through at night. No way were we going out into the dark with a bunch of armed idiots crashing through the woods.

Needless to say, I have a rather jaundiced view of hunters, based on actual experience.
