My Parent's farm had numerous horsedrawn cultivating equipment, the plow and disc set both had the same setup for holding a setting. My crawler mounted dragline also has several levers in quadrants to set multiple positions as well. The Signal Lever used in railway signalboxes is also another application of this design.

What makes this particular switchstand the more interesting is that this style of stand construction was also used by the great D.S.P.&P.RR prior to the U.P.RR control. Close-up photos on the South Park are nil.
