My photos from late August, 1968, show that #483 and #498 had similar pilots at the
end of their careers on the D&RGW, but #484's pilot did not have the cover plates:
A quick glance at 'RGNG - The Final Years' by Robart & Hereford shows plates on #492, #495 & #497, #493's pilot hidden by a plow, and #487 also with a plow which, IIRC, replaced her pilot many years ago.
I strongly suggest you look through John West's fabulous site at [www.lifewastedchasingtrains.com] - well worth viewing for its own sake - for photos from the early and mid sixties that show engines no longer in use during the final few years of the D&RGW narrow gauge.
