Thanks Sam, the hike to the other side can be done two ways. 1. by following the old toll road down to the bottom then crossing Cascade Creek then a easy grade back up to the railroad grade and there is a spot along the cut that isn't really all that hard to climb up. 2. This is the easiest and the best recomended way, and that is to grade around the canyon on the east side to the west side, this takes less effort of up and down climbing and makes for a pleasurable hike around from one side to the other, saw some deer going this way through the pine trees, and it is cooler in the trees till you cross the creek and get to the other side. But luckly it was over cast that day and was a cool walk.
