Joe took photos of the Fairbanks Morse Y oil engine that used to run the lift machinery on the coal tipple. It appears they are 'fixing' to get it running, which hasn't happened since Parker Fowler had it 'sort of running' about 10+ years ago.
Currently all of the hoist mechanism is run by an electric motor, which hasn't been able to operate for years because the lean of the tipple and wear and tear on the track put it out of service. John Sutkus and his teams have repaired the lean of the tipple and replaced and re-aligned the hoist car tracks so it once again is almost operational. It will be great to see it run again.
Work is being done on replacement siding on a reefer and Don Bayer is doing touch up paint work inside the RPO car. Mary Jane Smith is in her lair (lunch boxcar), we are always nice to the kitchen car ladies for making us such great sandwiches.

Bottom line, there is always work for anyone to come out and be willing to do what they can to help preserve our narrow gauge history. Get involved with your local group, and/or come on out to the CATS for a work session. We will work together to find a job that suits your skills and you will never work with a nicer group of people. Hard to beat that.
