Re: Alamosa oil refinery-old ng cars in view?

The 6 double deck stock cars the FOCTS got several years ago came out of that lot. While most of them have significant roof problems, most were in pretty good shape and quite restorable. We picked that best ones, but others would have done as well. The big problem is trucks. Helfin sold the trucks over the years, and when we got the stock cars we cleaned him out of usable trucks - except for perhaps a pair with center plate adaptors for a highside gon. I think he last truck had to be cross-canibalized from two or three trucks. The remaining trucks had broken journal boxes, cracked bolsters, badly checked wheel treads, etc. - useable for static display, but not operational. All the cars were up on blocks with the body mounted brake rigging still intact.
