Since my Dad flew for the KNIL, the only thing (slightly) that would improve the pic would be for it to be in Dutch (Netherlands) colors.

P.S. the reason that really is telling about the shooting down the Malaya Ait Lines and all the Dutchmen being killed was that Malaya was the Dutch East Indies until the late 1940s when the natives had a revolution. They Dutchmen were probably visiting relatives.

Heck, The Dutch got exclusive ownership to a nutmeg forest in the East Indies for the price of giving New Amsterdam to the English. Another story is the relationship between Soy Souse and Ketchup.
