WOW, Rod -
It appears that Great (?) Minds really do Think Alike!! Of course I have been aware of
the drive to obtain bearings (and wedges) for the tank cars, but if John had informed me
of your parallel efforts to tracks down some of Gramps descendents and to put together
a UTLX commemorative train it must have slipped through the cracks of my increasingly
forgetful memory.
The addition of a carload or two of lumber to a string of nine tank cars would make a VERY authentic 'Cumbres Turn' if John succeeds in having the tank cars available by late August next year, but we need to convince "the powers that be" that the expense of a helper engine - which is needed to make the train look right - can be covered by caboose tickets, chasers' passes and donations in order to keep the price of the subsequent ride from Cumbres to Antonito down to a level that is affordable by us ordinary railfans. Maybe it's time to start working on a

Of course your idea of UTLX helping with a similar train in 2016 is super! I just hope all of us are still around to see it if it occurs!!
I wonder if a K-37 will be running by then, as in this Tom Gildersleeve photo from October, 1962

Otherwise it's just one engine pulling nine ( 9, count 'em, 9 ) "loaded" tank cars up the 4%
