This picture doesn't really do it justice, but it does at least show that the upper lights in the windows were stained glass, a rare touch of elegance for a narrow gauge car. Number 17 was the B&SR's first class coach, and was the second-fanciest passenger car on the Maine Two-Footers, the first of course being the SR&RL parlor car 'Rangeley' -- which thankfully has always been stored safely indoors, even on the SR&RL.
I understand the trucks were salvaged, and with a certain numerical symmetry are now being used in the restoration of SR&RL coach 17 in Phillips, ME. (Two-foot gauge Laconia passenger trucks are a rare commodity, so this at least is good news.)
