Thanks to Jay and Roger for keeping us informed about the Commission meeting. I think we all need to realize that this is still going to be a very demanding year to five years fo rthe C&TS. We all need to help. Once again I plan to buy a season pass that I may not be able to use. Buying passes, and train tickets is one way to help. someone else suggested that if you can't use the tickets, give them to somoen who WILL ride the train. That also is a good idea. Full coaches are good advertising to folks who see the train. and don't forget to publicize the railroad to all your friends and relations.
Jay's idea about a fund drive with people contributing a hundered bucks each to the cause has merit, especially if the Commission is planning to run two shifts in the shop. does anyone know what the technicalities are of raising money for the commission to use? Or is that something that is best handled through a group like the Friends? I don't know all the legal details, but I suspect you can't just mail a check to the commission and ask them to apply it to the shop crew budget. There may also be issues about what sort of donations are deductable on your taxes. Is there a tax lawyer in the house?
Finally, I want to say "Thank You" to the four groups who took the time to put together a proposal for the Commission. I know that took a lot of time and effort. I, for one, appreciate your interest in the C&TS.
